Live traditional jazz in Sydney.........no Jazz Friday 30th December 2011..BUT, Friday 6th January we're BACK...with a special farewell night to English trumpeter Chas.McDevitt.....

NO Jazz at Club Ashfield on Friday 30th December.....we're having a break...
BUT...Friday 6th January 2012....TRADITIONAL JAZZ is back at Club Ashfield for 2012....
Over the last few years English trumpet player Chas.McDevitt has often led the Bridge City Jazz band both at Club Ashfield and other venues...
He and his wife Catherine and children are returning to the UK about week after this gig for Catherine to take up an appointment as a paediatrician, and of course the immediate family will be close to family for support.
We wish them well and will miss his involvement.
So we're running a farewell night along the lines of the Birthday Bashes we've done for the last 8 years or so...
Monique Lysiak on piano and Jim Morrell on drums make up the special guest to start and finish off the night and we'll have some selected sit-ins from muso friends, a "going away cake"...so nibbles for you...
Best mark this on your calendar and we look forward to seeing you on the night.
The regular Bridge City Jazz Band personal make up the band.

Live Jazz in Sydney ... Geoff Bull is back with the Bridge City Jazz Band on Friday 16th December 2011 at Club Ashfield....

Yes it's Geoff Bull leading the Bridge City Jazz Band this coming Friday 16th December at Club Ashfield.....
Originally to be Bill Dudley, due to a booking mixup by "others" Bill had to lead his band at a Wollongong gig.
So we jumped at getting Geoff Bull to play trumpet lead....
He plays a swinging driving New Orleans style of Jazz, especially when backed by Gary Walford on piano...
What a pair....
John Bates is elsewhere and Mike Hallam has swapped his trumpet for some swinging New Orleans trombone with a welcome back to Joel Davis filling the drumming stool...
Usual Bridge City JB personnel make up the band...
Colin Beal, himself a "New Orleans style tragic" plays reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Can't wait for the night...
What are you waiting for? "Get your glad-rags on" and get over to the Club...
