Live traditional, danceable Jazz in Sydney....!! Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 26th April sees Geoff Power leading the band with pianist Frank Watts and Drummer Jim Morrell the other special guests.....

Geoff Power is one of Sydney, likely Australia's busiest traditional jazz trumpet/cornet players and it is always great to have him back at Club Ashfield for the regular Friday night gig with the Bridge City Jazz Band, a gig he professes to like immensely.....
We like him too......
Frank Watts, resident on the NSW Central Coast is one of our regulars and fits the piano stool like a well worn glove....
Jim Morrell needs no introduction...the Bridge City Jazz Bands resident drummer at its inception until family health problems saw his retirement from regular drumming,  he likes to keep his skills honed and is with us on the evening of Friday 26th April....Club Ashfield has become known as THE place for traditional jazz and the board and staff are super supportive of the gig.....

Regulars from the Bridge City Jazz Band....John Bates..trombone and vocals....; Colin Davies, double bass, myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo and after a months recovery following a new knee, Colin Beal returns to play reeds...

Where is Club Ashfield?
Beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side in Charlotte Street.....

Live traditional, danceable Jazz in Sydney....!! Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 12th April sees the Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band back together led by Tony Thomas from Canberra....as well we play at The Pines, Dural on Sunday 14th then we are back together again for Friday 19th at Club Ashfield and then at Central Coast Leagues Club on Sunday 21st......

No doubt about it, the combination of the old Black Mountain Jazz Band from Canberra and the Bridge City Jazz Band from Sydney giving a popular swinging 7 piece traditional jazz band with a leaning towards New Orleans Jazz is a great combination.....
There is a feast of it over the next two weeks...Friday 12th and 19th April at Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield, 7.30pm to 10.30pm in the first floor bistro/function area..the Club is beside the Ashfield Railway Station and then on Sunday 14th April at The Pines, Old Northern Road, Dural, 12.30pm to 4pm and Sunday 21st April playing for the Central Coast Jazz League at Central Coast Leagues Club, Dane Drive, Gosford, 2pm to 5pm.....
From Canberra Tony Thomas on trumpet and vocals leads the band with Ron Cook on the Club's grand piano and keyboard elsewhere...Neal Macbeth  is on drums on the Fridays, Craig Lee drums for us at The Pines and Joel Davis drums with us at Central Coast Leagues...John Bates on trombone for the 14th and 19th is replaced by Mike Hallam for the 12th and 21st, Colin Davies on double bass, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and with our regular clarinet player Colin Beal still recovering from a knee replacement operation, so we'll have Kevin Goodey on clarinet for Friday 12th and Sunday the 14th....
The following week is still up in the air with a good chance Colin Beal will be back...he's a keen as mustard to play, but mobility is his problem at present...
