Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 25th March Club Ashfield is closed as it is GOOD FRIDAY so no jazz this night...back again the following Friday 1st april 2016...

This Friday is GOOD FRIDAY and EASTER and Club Ashfield is closed all day and night, Friday 25th March 2016, so THERE IS NO JAZZ THAT NIGHT......
We are back again on Friday 1st April 2016 and that is NOT an April Fools joke! 
 Special guests then are Mike Hallam on trumpet lead, Bradley Newman on piano and Craig Lee on drums with the usual Bridge City JB regulars....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 18th March we've the Canberra three up to join the band...Tony Thomas on trumpet lead, Ron Cook on piano, Ian Hill on drums...

We always enjoy playing with the trio of the old Black Mountain Jazz Band from Canberra and they are with the Bridge City Jazz Band this coming Friday 18th March 2016 at Club Ashfield and then when the band plays for the Central Coast Jazz League at Central Coast Leagues Club, Gosford on the Sunday 20th 2-5pm...
Tony Thomas on trumpet lead/vocals, Ron Cook on the Club's grand piano and Ian Hill on the bands drum kit together with John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal clarinet and alto sax, Colin Davies on double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A great night of traditional jazz with a New Orleans flavour.....

 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  
Best of all the admission is FREE....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 11th March we've a 70th "birthday bash" for Sydney Jazz Banjoist Paul Baker with Al Davey on trumpet lead, Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano, Kym Till on trombone and Jim Morrell on drums....

Paul Baker has been around  the Sydney Jazz scene for more years than he's prepared to remember and he's finally made 70..."out of warranty" as I'm often wont to say.....so we've a big birthday bash for him this coming Friday 11th March 2016 at Club Ashfield with Al Davey on trumpet lead, Monique Lysiak on piano, Kym Till on trombone  and Jim Morrell on drums joining some of the Bridge city Jazz Band  regulars, Colin Beal on reeds and  Colin Davies on double bass.
These nights are always a great night of traditional jazz with selected sit-ins from other musos in Paul's past..and present who'll play in a set or so.....
Dancing shoes packed, glad rags on...see you next Friday....
