Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 2nd June 2017 is a special Birthday Bash for leading Sydney New Orleans style trumpet player Geoff Bull with Gary Walford on piano and Graham Hilgendorf as the other special guests on the night....

We've not had one of our "Birthday Bashes" at Club Ashfield for some time and it a pleasure for the Bridge City Jazz Band to celebrate Sydney trumpet player Geoff Bull's 75th this coming Friday 2nd June 2017 with as special guests Gary Walford playing the Club's grand piano and Graham Hilgendorf on drums joining the Bridge City JB regulars Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and a welcome back from a south American holiday with wife Marion to Colin Davies on double bass.....
The usual large birthday cake will "be on" during the night for you to savour with a large birthday card to note memories of Geof....
Be a super night...look forward to seeing you at The Club from 7.30pm through to 10.30pm...1-11 Charlotte St., Ashfield beside the Railway station on the northern side.....

 Can now confirm we've a "wake" to play for th late John Bates... Sat. afternoon 8th July2017 at Club Ashfield.....more news shortly...

 Sad news for Sydney and Australian Jazz Lovers in particular is the death Friday morning 19.05.2017 in Footscray Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria of JOHN BATES..."JB" was the bands trombone player for many years until ill health last October forced his retirement...we've a "wake" in planning...likely Sat. afternoon 8th July2017 at Club Ashfield.....RIP "JB"...


This coming Friday 26th May 2017 at Club Ashfield, we've Dave Ridyard leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano saxophone featuring another of his "Celebration of 1920's Jazz"...Brad Newman's on the club's grand piano, Jim Morrell on drums- with our regular bass player on holiday we've Gary Kohrmann on double bass for the night.....linking up with the Bridge City JB regulars....Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Good to have for this coming Friday 19th May 2017 at Club Ashfield, Simon Stribling leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet with David Stevens on the Club's grand piano and Lauri Lyster on the bands drum set- with our regular bass player on holiday we've Harry Harman on double bass for the night.....linking up with the Bridge City JB regulars....Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
