Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 1st December 2017 we've "the bouncin' Czech", Jiri Kripac on trumpet lead with Gary Walford on piano and Chris Gentle on drums...

Its the "Bouncin' Czech" back with us this coming Friday 1st December at Club Ashfield...Jiri Kripac is on cornet lead, Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle  on the band drumkit...they join the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars....Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A night of trad. jazz for dancing and listening....

 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Its special trumpet night at Club Ashfield this coming Friday the 24th November 2017 with James Power  on the trumpet lead,  Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Cy Donkin on the drums joining the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars,Mike Hallam, trombone.... Colin Beal,reeds...Colin Davies, double bass...and Dennis Quinlan on banjo...
The night promises to be a swinger.....

Greg Englert is a diehard Louis Amstrong fan and with Greg leading on trumpet this coming Friday 17th November 2017 there is sure to be a strong Louis influence in the tunes played....the other two special guests on the night at Club Ashfield are Bradley Newman on piano and Chris Gentle on drums.....
They join the Bridge City JB regulars...Colin Beal on reeds, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Aghh, the though of the night excites me as I'm sure it does yourselves.....
