Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday ...and this coming Friday the 2nd February 2018 sees the band led by super jazz violinist George Washingmachine with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums and Al Davey on trombone......`

George Washingmachine is always a welcome leader for the Bridge City Jazz Band and he's back with us this coming Friday 2nd February 2018 at Club Ashfield as a special guest with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums and al Davey on trombone.... they complement the regulars Bridge City JB members,  Dennis Quinlan on banjo, Colin Davies on double bass and Colin Beal on reeds....Mike Hallam is still recouperating from his heart attack and we hope to see him back at the end of February...
A super night of swinging traditional jazz coming up.....

  Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 26th January 2018 ..which is AUSTRALIA DAY, sees the Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band togethr for the SJC Harbour Cruise 10am to 3pm, then at Club Ashfield...with Tony thomas on tpt lead, Al Davey on tbn, Ron Cook on piano & Chris Gentle on drums....

The Canberra Duo are back....! And they will play with us this coming Friday 26th January 2018...Australia Day...initially on the SJC, Australia Day Harbour Cruise Ferry the M.V. Bella Vista ....Tony Thomas on trumpet lead, Ron Cook on piano, Al Davey on trombone with Chris Gentle on drums, they join the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars at Club Ashfield on Friday 26th January 2018...Colin Beal, reeds, Al Davey trombone; Colin Davies double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo.
 Unfortunately last Saturday our trombone player, Mike Hallam, pictured below, suffered a heart attack and will be "out of action" for some weeks....he is out of hospital and recovering...
Al Davey has stepped in to play trombone for us...on ya Al !!
  Colin Davies is on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo with Colin Beal on reeds...
Always a great night of swinging New Orleans music....

Bruce Johnson is our trumpet lead for the night at Club Ashfield....welcome Bruce, with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano, Paul Furniss on reeds, and  Jim Morrell on drums....together with the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars Colin Davies on double bass, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo,  and  Mike Hallam  on trombone.
All we need is your good selves and the night will be a swinging one of traditional jazz....
